With the launch of the RC10B84, Team Associated also released a series of new rear suspension parts that are compatible with both the RC10B84 and RC10B7 platforms.
The option suspension main design element is the use of the 71mm CVA bones coupled with the -4mm Offset Hub and #92207 rear axle from previous 4WD buggies. This system, shown above compared to a RC10B7 kit alters the design to utilize a longer CVA shaft and place the CVA joint closer to the wheel hex.
Changing from 69mm to a 71mm CVA system reduces drivetrain bind under load, resulting in increased off-power grip in slow turns, while also allowing the suspension to articulate and remain more supple on forward drive. Overall, this system adds rear traction, especially on power. In short, racers can run this configuration on low grip to gain traction, or on higher grip to make the car more planted and less reactive to drive. Overall drivers report fewer mistakes per race with this more forgiving system on extreme high or low grip. The middle range of grip, the 69mm B7 hub rear suspension is the preferred package for neutral balance.
To connect the new hub and CVA system to the chassis, engineers went with an 81mm rear suspension arm available in both standard plastic and carbon versions. The overall width allows racers 1mm extra flexibility to tune the buggy width with 5mm to 7mm hex adapters. Typically as grip is reduced you want the narrowest setting and will run it wider in the rear as traction increases.
